Science is not only for scientists and engineers, but permeates all of our lives. The scientific method can be applied across academic disciplines, career paths, and everyday decision-making. PSIL is an educational outreach program that demonstrates this approach by delivering a liberal arts and sciences curriculum grounded in inquiry, critical thinking, and problem-solving.

PSIL connects high school students in India with Harvard undergraduates from a wide range of academic fields. Together, Harvard instructors collaborate to design a curriculum that introduces students to the liberal arts and sciences while fostering leadership, curiosity, and analytical skills.

The program brings together Harvard undergraduates, Indian college students, and high school students in a collaborative learning community. Harvard undergraduates develop and teach learning modules alongside Indian college students, who help contextualize the curriculum for local relevance. The instructional team travels to India to deliver the program during an intensive five-day residential experience, a format designed to maximize engagement and cross-cultural learning.

PSIL is offered at no cost to all participating students. The program relies on the support of local partners and sponsors and is made possible through collaboration with partners in India and the Lakshmi Mittal South Asia Institute at Harvard University.
